TUES 11/12 @ 6:30pm | Strategic College Planning for GT Learners

college planningCollege planning can be complicated under everyday circumstances. What if you’re a GT learner traveling a non-traditional path through the middle and high school years? College credits for AP or CIS classes may be only part of the picture. Grade or subject acceleration, PSEO courses, or other learning outside the school day also enter the equation.

Guest Sabrina Fay, consultant with Thrivent Financial, joins us for a college planning conversation tailored to families who have GT or advanced learners — particularly in grades 5 – 10 —  and are looking toward the horizon. Learn how academics, admissions, and financial strategies can work together to help save you and your student money on college.

TUESDAY 11/12, 6:30 – 8:30pm
WHERE | Stillwater Middle School, Media Center

  • How do natural abilities, learning differences, or future ambitions become part of figuring out a “good fit” degree program alongside the financial investment?
  • How soon should GT families start looking ahead? How soon should you create a plan or road map for class registration?
  • What should you keep in mind about published costs, FAFSA, and the overall financial package?
  • How can students balance a focus on the future with the freedom to explore interests and pathways?

Students, be part of the conversation! Bring questions, ideas, and concerns. Visit the Minnesota Graduation Requirements and confirm any requirements unique to your school so you know what will have to complete to earn your high school diploma.
