About MCGT
Every student deserves to learn every day. Learning should include opportunities for kids to explore new ideas, develop their potential, and pursue passions in ways that help them grow year to year.
Minnesota has a long-standing education tradition that includes commitment to meeting the learning needs of all students.
Minnesota Council for the Gifted & Talented (MCGT) is a state affiliate of National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). MCGT unites people in chapters across greater Minnesota in support of our gifted and talented youth.
MCGT strives to educate Minnesotans, including our legislators, about the importance of educational services that meet the learning and social emotional needs of these students.
MCGT in the St. Croix Valley
MCGT chapters offer a way for parents, educators, and others to connect in a focused way by serving people in a particular area.
The St. Croix Valley chapter is a community of people from local public, private, charter, and home schools who live or work with gifted children and are interested in their education and well-being.
Together, we support:
- Positive, supportive, and appropriate learning environments for all St. Croix Valley students
- Research-based identification and education practices for gifted students of diverse cultural and socio-economic origins
- Professional development and classroom / PLC supports for educators who develop curriculum, guide differentiation, provide counseling for, and/or teach high-ability learners
- Informed efforts to address GT students’ distinct learning needs and socio-emotional traits
