MON 2/27 at 6:00pm | Books for the Care & Feeding of Advanced Readers
With gifted readers in the house it can be tough to keep enough books on hand while staying on top of which titles kids are choosing to devour. What makes for a “healthy diet” when kids are reading two — or even more — levels beyond grade norms? We’re preparing a feast on books in celebration of “I Love to Read” month!

How do you nourish hungry readers cover to cover? We’ll talk fiction and non-fiction, genre, ready-to-use resources, bibliotherapy and best practices for supporting high-ability readers. The conversation will range from classroom to living room reading so you can feed their book appetites using strategies that:
- Offer good fit for kids’ age, expanding abilities, and socio-emotional development
- Consider students’ interests and intensities
- Develop critical thinking, explore character, and feed the need for discovery
